Why Supernatural’s ‘Lucifer’ says he’s really the good guy

How many shows (like Buffy the Vampire Slayer) have threatened us with an apocalypse only to have the good guys save the day at the last minute? Supernatural’s creator Eric Kripke decided that if he was going to talk about the apocalypse, his good guys, Sam and Dean Winchester (or, well, Sam, to be precise), were going to go ahead and cause one.

News briefs: Frewer guests on Supernatural; Headroom on DVD

Max Headroom and Eureka star Matt Frewer has been cast on The CW’s Supernatural as the third of the Four Horseman of the apocalypse, Pestilence, who’ll show up at the end of the season.

What’s next now that Supernatural’s creator is stepping aside?

It’s been a good news/bad news kind of Supernatural day. The good: Supernatural got an early season-six pickup for next season. The bad: Creator Eric Kripke is planning to step down as co-show-runner, along with his current co-show-runner, Robert Singer. While the men promise to continue to act as hands-on executive producers, Sera Gamble will move into the pivotal show-runner role, taking over day-to-day operations of the series, according to EW.com.

World doesn’t end: Supernatural gets new season

The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural fans can rejoice! Both shows received early pickups from The CW for next season, meaning a second season for breakout hit The Vampire Diaries and a sixth season for the apocalyptic Supernatural, according to a press release today from the network.
