Apple TV+ Cancels Constellation After One Season

Noomi Rapace starred in the high-concept thriller, which ran on the streaming service this winter.

The sci-fi psychological thriller Constellation won’t be coming back for a second season.

Variety reports today that Apple TV+ has cancelled the series, which ran on the streamer from February to March. The show was created by Peter Harness, and ran for eight episodes.

Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus) starred in the show as Johanna “Jo” Ericsson, an astronaut for the European Space Agency. After an unidentified object collides with the International Space Station Jo is involved in the emergency repairs. But after returning to Earth she begins to discover that parts of her life are not as she remembers — or are missing entirely.

Constellation also starred James D’Arcy, Julian Looman, William Catlett, Barbara Sukowa, and Davina Coleman.

Despite the cancellation Apple TV+ continues to be a friendly outlet for original science fiction programming. The streamer just debuted the similarly dark and twisty drama Dark Matter starring Joel Edgerton, and has renewed For All Mankind for a fifth season — as well as ordering a spin-off series, Star City.

Foundation and Invasion will also both be back for a third season. Meanwhile Silo has completed filming its second season (we’re expecting a premiere announcement any day now), and kaiju monster series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — starring Kurt Russell and son Wyatt — is also coming back.
