Sci-Fi This Week: Helix Returns … Now With Monkeys!

Syfy Channel comes roaring back to life this week with a double premiere: Friday nights now belong to newcomer 12 Monkeys and the second season of Helix.
12 Monkeys follows a time traveler from a future where more than 90 percent of the human race has been decimated, who travels back to our time to try and prevent the apocalypse. (It’s an adaptation of the 1995 film by Terry Gilliam.) And when Helix returns, Alan Farragut and his team from the CDC find themselves up against a new and deadly virus on a mysterious island that is home to a cult.
Also this week: Grimm returns with more Wesenrein threats against Monroe and Rosalee, Jarvis gets himself arrested on Agent Carter, and The Librarians wraps up its freshman season with the final two episodes.

“Wesenrein.” The Wesenrein act on their many threats against Monroe and Rosalee’s marriage. Meanwhile, Nick and Hank bring Wu to a place where he’s sure to find the answers he’s looking for. Elsewhere, Juliette tries to come to grips with her new reality.

“Pilot.” A drama based on Terry Gilliam’s 1995 sci-fi adventure begins when a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future arrives in the year 2015 on a mission to save mankind from a deadly plague that will eventually decimate 93.6% of the human race.
HELIXSyfy, 10/9c – SEASON PREMIERE!
“San Jose.” In the second-season premiere, those who survived the horrors of Arctic Biosystems attempt to move on with their lives. However, they find themselves unable to escape the long reach of Ilaria Corporation as they battle a new deadly virus on a mysterious wooded island inhabited by a cult that has no ties with the outside world.
THE LIBRARIANSTNT, 8/7c – SEASON FINALE!
“And the City of Light.” A missing-person investigation uncovers what appears to be an alien invasion in a small rural town.
“And the Loom of Fate.” When Dulaque changes the course of Fate, Baird starts moving through alternate timelines, each showing the changing destinies of the Librarians — and her own, inevitable doom.
RESURRECTIONABC, 9/8c
“Steal Away.” After a series of inexplicable events, Bellamy fears for the safety of Rachael and her unborn child. Preacher James predicts that the baby’s birth will unleash an ancient evil. Margaret rallies the Returned at the government facility and forms an uneasy alliance with Preacher James, and Bellamy’s government contact warns that something big is on the horizon.
