Kovacs begins his investigation with countless death threats made against Bancroft, leading him to a man with a troubled past. Lieutenant Ortega continues to track Kovacs surreptitiously, and Poe reconnects with a cadre of his fellow AIs.

Kovacs and Ortega both find themselves invited to a party at Bancroft's house, where he has invited everyone he thinks might want to kill him for an evening of revelry and blood sport. Poe agrees to help Vernon Elliot's daughter in exchange for his help.

Kovac's relationship with Detective Ortega changes when he learns that his sleeve belonged to her former partner, Riker -- sending them on a hunt for the man who set him up.

Kovacs rushes to save Ortega's life after she is critically wounded, and Bancroft's son comes under suspicion for Bancroft's murder. Poe and Elliot argue over how best to treat Lizzie, and a traitor is exposed.

As Takeshi recovers from a traumatic injury he recalls a reunion long ago with his sister, Reileen, and their subsequent involvement with a rogue military organization led by a woman bent on saving the world from the curse of immortality.

After discovering his sister's part in the modern world Kovacs considers giving Bancroft what he wants. After being pushed away by Kovacs, Ortega investigates the mysterious woman who now seems to hold his loyalties -- leading to an explosive confrontation at Psychasec.

With Ortega in Rei's hands Tak hatches a daring plan to level the playing field, and his new friends band together to help him infiltrate a floating brothel where the wealthy and powerful commit the most unspeakable acts.

Ortega is tormented inside a virtual reality prison, while Kovacs comes face-to-face with his sister in a final clash. Lizzie ascends to new heights.
