After the Irish mafia is gunned down in cold blood Foggy and Matt are drawn into the search for a new player in Hell's Kitchen: a merciless and heavily-armed assassin who is targeting the city's criminal element.

As Matt recovers from his first run-in with the murderous vigilante known as the Punisher, Foggy and Karen face a District Attorney determined to put their client back in harm's way.

Matt is held captive by the Punisher, who wants to prove to him that sometimes killing is necessary. Meanwhile Karen acquires intel on the Punisher from an unlikely source, and Foggy meets Claire Temple while searching for Matt in the Emergency Room.

The Irish target the Punisher to exact revenge for the murder of their brothers. Karen's investigation leads her to Frank Castle's home and hints of his tragic past.

The arrival of an ex-lover turns Matt's world upside down, forcing him to relive the depths to which he sank ten years ago. Foggy rebuffs the D.A.'s overture for help building its case against the Punisher, while Matt and Karen continue to grow closer.

While Foggy and Karen help Frank Castle negotiate an advantageous plea deal with the District Attorney, Elektra enlists Matt's help in stealing an important Yakuza ledger from the Roxxon building.

With Frank's trial about to begin Nelson and Murdock search for a plausible line of defense, while Frank pushes Karen for new information about his family. Daredevil and Elektra track a mystery Yakuza shipment, leading to a confrontation at the docks.

When Elektra is critically wounded an old friend resurfaces to help save her life, telling Matt that an ancient war has already come to his neighborhood. Foggy calls on Matt when Frank's trial reaches a critical turn, as Elektra reconsiders her own future as a member of the Chaste.

With Foggy and Matt's future in doubt, Karen takes her new lead to the editor of the New York Bulletin. Daredevil locates an accountant working for the Yakuza, and inside the prison walls the Kingpin makes Frank Castle an offer he cannot refuse.

Matt and his friends are caught in the crossfire of the Punisher's revenge spree, but Karen is suspicious when Frank's enemies start to turn up dead. Matt gets help from Claire in tending to the five victims of the Hand, and also visits an old enemy in prison. Elsewhere, Elektra finds herself a target.

After Castle is targeted by a pair of hit-men, he learns the location of the person he holds responsible for the murder of his family. Meanwhile Matt goes to Madame Gao for intel on the Blacksmith, and Claire faces the aftermath of the attack on the hospital.

After Stick is captured by the Hand, Daredevil finds himself up against one of his own allies when Elektra vows to kill her former mentor. Meanwhile Foggy and Matt part ways, and Karen decides to tell Frank Castle's final tale.

Nobu declares war on Daredevil, who is the only thing that stands between the Hand and the mythical Black Sky they believe will fulfill prophecy. When they target the people Matt has saved, Karen finds herself in the middle of a mass kidnapping.
