August may be a quiet time of year for science fiction television, but three of our favorite genre shows are on the air with new episodes this week.
Extant explores android nightmare’s in this week’s new episode, as young Ethan experiences dreams he was never programmed to have. Defiance turns a spotlight on Doc Yewll, while Fallin Skies‘ 2nd Mass strikes out in search of the Volm.
And there’s more good news on the horizon for sci-fi fans: Doctor Who returns with a brand new season — and a brand new Doctor! — on Saturday, August 23 (8/7c on BBC America). The series premiere of the supernatural thriller Intruders follows at 9/8c.

“Nightmares.” Molly uncovers footage that may reveal the real reason the ISEA chose her for the solo mission. Meanwhile, Ethan experiences his first dream, an unforeseen advancement for which he was not programmed, and Julie distracts herself from work with a mysterious man she meets at the gym.
FALLING SKIESTNT, 10/9c
“Till Death Do Us Part.” Tom and a team track the Volm in an attempt to find equipment to work on a crippled airship. Meanwhile, Maggie and Ben inch closer together at camp while Pope and Sara clash.
