Toss A Coin: First Look At Liam Hemsworth’s Witcher

Netflix is teasing the upcoming fourth season of The Witcher, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the lead role.

Our first look at Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia is here, on the heels of last month’s production tease with a video from the Season 4 table read. Today Netflix released a teaser video showing the character in full costume.

Taking over for former series lead Henry Cavill, Hemsworth will play the title character Geralt of Rivia for Seasons 4 and 5 — which will conclude the series based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Back-to-back filming of the final two seasons is currently underway in the U.K. He co-stars alongside returning cast members Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg), Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra), and Joey Batey (Jaskier), plus newcomer Laurence Fishburne (Regis).

The 45-second tease shows close-ups of Geralt walking slowly through a dark and foggy scene, finally stopping to turn his face toward camera. Take a look:

Netflix also published the following logline for Season 4:

After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.

Hemsworth’s credits include Poker Face, Independence Day: Resurgence, and The Hunger Games series.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

Seasons 4 and 5 will adapt the story from Sapkowski’s three remaining novels: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.

The first three seasons of The Witcher are now streaming on Netflix. Check out our episode guide while you watch (or rewatch) the show!
