The pandemic infection series bows in 2014 on Syfy Channel. Here’s the latest peek from Comic-Con!

Helix begins filming next week in Montreal, with a 13-episode season. The suspense thriller follows a team of scientists at a remote Arctic outpost, who are faced with the outbreak of a potentially catastrophic contagion.

Syfy has also announced casting for the series, which is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Caprica). Billy Campbell (The Killing) will play Dr. Alan Farragut, a pathologist working for the Centers for Disease Control. Farragut is still reeling from the end of his marriage following his wife’s affair with his brother when he must find a cure for a mysterious disease that now threatens his brother’s life.

Rounding out the cast are Kyra Zagorsky (Falling Skies), Mark Ghanimé (Emily Owens M.D.), and Hiroyuki Sanada (Revenge), who reportedly plays a villain.

We’ll continue tracking Helix as the show nears its 2014 debut! Keep it locked on SciFi Stream for more.
