The cable network today announced that it is renewing Falling Skies for a fourth season, to air next summer. As with previous years, Season Four will be comprised of 10 episodes.

The show has continued to perform well in its current third season, which premiered to 4.2 million live viewers on June 9, and has averaged 5.8 million weekly with DVR-delayed viewership factored in.

Overall ratings are down just a bit from last year, but the important demographic of adults 18 to 49.  The age of the show’s average view has dropped by two years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Falling Skies stars Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, a former U.S. history professor who now leads a group of rebels fighting against an alien occupation on Earth.
