Shane McRae cast as Rewind‘s leading man

In addition to casting its new series Defiance (story), Syfy has found its leading man for Rewind — a time-travel action series currently in development.

Actor Shane McRae (Four Kings) will play Henry Knox, described as “ex-Special Forces who ranks as a field operative in a special division of the Department of Homeland Security. A self-aware, wry, clever and razor-sharp strategic mind, Knox likes to be underestimated. Now, Knox has been recruited for a nearly-impossible top-secret mission: to travel back in time to prevent a devastating terrorist attack.”

Rewind focuses on a secret military team that uses experimental time-travel technology to travel into the past and alter events in order to change the future and prevent a terrorist attack — a premise similar to the old UPN series Seven Days.

The two-hour pilot will be directed by Jack Bender (LOST, Alphas), and is written and executive produced by Justin Marks.  Also producing are Tom Spezialy, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein. Production is set to begin in April.
