Supergirl

First Look At Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl

CBS has released the first image of the DC heroine

CBS’s take on Supergirl is shaping up to be the newcomer to watch next season.

The broadcast network made an early series commitment to the DC Comics show from Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg. The pilot is currently shooting, and the show has a real shot at making the fall schedule.

Melissa Benoist (Glee) stars as Kara Zor-el, Superman’s Kryptonian cousin who decides at the age of 24 to stop hiding her powers and become the hero she was destined to be.

Supergirl’s costume was designed by Colleen Atwood, the same designer behind The CW’s Arrow and The Flash. “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past,” she said, “but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today.”

The costume’s darker, more subdued colors are in keeping with the current feature film Superman’s style, as worn by actor Henry Cavill.
