Defiance Begins Production On Season Three

Three new cast members join the show in 2015

Syfy Channel’s Defiance is coming back for a third outing this summer, and this week officially commenced production in Toronto.

Michael Nankin is directing the first episode.

Three new cast members are coming to the frontier town of Defiance for the show’s 13-episode third season. Lee Tergesen (The Americans) will play a military leader, General Rahm Tak. A Castithan and leader in the Votanis Collective, General Tak sees the town of Defiance — no longer under the control of the Earth Republic — as a symbolic target in his unrelenting pursuit of power.

Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained) will play a character named Kindzi, described as “fierce, beautiful and tough,” a skilled fighter who is second-in-command to her father. That’s T’evgin, played by Conrad Coates (The Strain). He is the leader of a new alien race, who reluctantly carries the burden of his species’ survival on his shoulders.

Defiance (213) - I Almost PrayedKindzi and T’evgin are members of the Omec, warriors who were driven to the brink of extinction and who once imposed harsh subjugation upon the whole galaxy in the years prior to the PALE Wars.

Grant Bowler returns as Nolan, along with Julie Benz as Amanda Rosewater, Stephanie Leonidas as Irisa Nolan, Tony Curran as Datak Tarr, Jaime Murray as Stahma Tarr, Graham Greene as Rafe McCawley, and Jesse Rath as Alak Tarr, Trenna Keating as Doc Yewll, and Anna Hopkins as Berlin.

Defiance has benefited handsomely from the DVR boost, drawing 2.7 million viewers last season (Live + 7 Days).

Defiance airs this summer on Syfy. Stick with SciFi Stream for the latest!
