BBC Releases Official Synopsis For Doctor Who‘s 50th

“The Day of the Doctor” airs worldwide on November 23.

The wait is almost over! In just two and a half weeks Doctor Who fans all over the world will finally get to see “The Day of the Doctor,” the show’s epic 50th anniversary special.

Now the BBC has released the official (though still somewhat cryptic) synopsis for the episode, which will air in dozens of countries worldwide on Saturday, November 23:

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

Written by Stephen Moffat and directed by Nick Hurran, “The Day of the Doctor” stars Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, and John Hurt as a previously unknown “Doctor” — plus companions Jenna Coleman (Clara) and Billie Piper (Rose).

The special will run 75 minutes. Watch the trailer below!
