First Photo! Doctor Who Special An Adventure In Space And Time
The dramatized origin story airs in November.
Doctor Who is about to turn 50, and the BBC is celebrating in style — including with a dramatization of the show’s original creation.
BBC America has released the first image from An Adventure In Space and Time, the upcoming TV drama that tells the story of the creation of the iconic British show in 1963. The movie was written by Doctor Who actor and scribe Mark Gatiss (who also appears on Steven Moffat’s Sherlock, as Mycroft Holmes), and directed by Terry McDonough.

The movie stars David Bradley (Harry Potter, Broadchurch) as actor William Hartnell, who played the first Doctor from 1963 to 1973.
In spite of a few years off the air prior to Russell Davies’ 2005 reboot, Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction program in TV history.
