Anthony Stewart Head Cast In Syfy’s Dominion

Game of Thrones‘s Roxanne McKee also rounds out the cast.

Buffy alum Anthony Stewart Head has been cast in a major supporting role for Dominion, a potential new fantasy series based on the angel war movie Legion.

The Syfy Channel pilot is set 25 years after the film, in a world devastated by a catastrophic war between humankind and an army of angels. It follows the journey of Alex Lannen, a rebellious young soldier who discovers he is the unlikely savior of humanity.

Christopher Egan stars in the project, alongside Alan Dale and Tom Wisdom (story).

Head will play David Weel, described in the network’s press release as “the power hungry president of the Senate of Vega (formerly Las Vegas) who is frequently at odds with General Rysen [Dale], the city’s military leader. David is willing to do whatever he believes is right to protect the city and his position leading it.”

Head’s long list of fantasy credits includes his long-running role as Watcher Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as turns on Doctor Who (Mr. Finch in “School Reunion”), Merlin (King Uther Pendragon), and Warehouse 13 (returning in 2014 as Paracelsus). On the big screen, he recently appeared in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

Also rounding out the cast of Dominion:

Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones)

Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones Doreah) plays Claire Rysen, described by Syfy as “the closest thing that Vega has to a princess. As the daughter of General Rysen — the man who led humans to victory against the angels during the Extermination War — she is a member of the highest class in Vega’s stratified society. Claire is also strong-willed and much tougher than she seems.”

Luke Allen-Gale (The Borgias) plays William Weel, “the scion of Vega’s other powerful ruling family. Unlike his cunning politician father David, William is a man of the people and Head of the Church of the Savior.”

Shivani Ghai (The Bible) guest stars as Arika, “a lead diplomat sent from Helena, a mysterious and militant matriarchal society in what was once Salt Lake City, which maintains a tenuous peace with Vega.”

The pilot for Dominion will begin filming this month in Cape Town, South Africa, and definitely has a lot of buzz in the fan community. Stick with SciFi Stream for more on the show as news develops!
