Believe Added To NBC’s Cancellation List

The show was already pulled from the schedule for May sweeps

No surprises here: You can add mid-season latecomer Believe to the list of shows that won’t be back next year.

The high-concept show about a super-powered little girl and her escaped Death Row inmate protector came from producers Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity) and J.J. Abrams (Star Trek).

The series didn’t premiere until March (after NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics). After a splashy 10.5 million viewer premiere on a Monday, Believe moved to its regular time slot on Sunday and sank below 5 million within a few weeks.

A few days ago the network pulled the show off the schedule for the remainder of the May sweeps period, signaling its likely demise. Believe returns on Sunday, May 25 with four episodes left to air.

NBC has also cancelled mid-season thriller Crisis and comedy Growing Up Fisher.
