Firefly‘s Morena Baccarin Joining Gotham
She’ll play a major recurring character, according to reports
Veteran genre actress Morena Baccarin is on her way to the city of Gotham.
Baccarin has been cast in a major recurring role in the Batman prequel series. She will play Dr. Leslie Thompkins, a character from DC Comics lore who was a friend of the late Thomas and Martha Wayne. Thompkins is a gifted physician who will end up working at the newly-opened Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane.
The character will recur throughout the first season and is slated to become a regular in Season Two, should Gotham see a renewal.
Baccarin made a name for herself among science fiction fans with her role as Inara Serra on Firefly. She then appeared on Stargate SG-1, V, and Showtime’s Homeland, for which she was nominated for an Emmy.
