Atlantis Preview Clip: Jason Is From the Present

A scene from the first episode offers a major revelation.

Ohhhhhhhh … Jason, the hero of the new BBC fantasy drama Atlantis, is from the present-day world.

The network has left what seems to be a pretty big detail about the show’s premise out of all promotional material, until now. Watch a preview clip from the series premiere below.

Atlantis follows Jason (Jack Donnelly) on a quest to find out what happened to his father. As the clip reveals, the man was lost when he took a submarine below the surface of the ocean — perhaps with some knowledge of Atlantis, as Jason believes his father knew he would not come back. When Jason follows him in the series opener, he finds himself washed up on the shore of the mythical city.

Atlantis starts this Saturday at 8:25 p.m. on BBC One. The show arrives in Canada on October 12, and on BBC America in the U.S. on November 23.
