An orphaned teenage girl moves returns to her mother's roots when she moves to a small town in Washington State, and is stunned to learn that she is a witch.

The group continues to pressure Cassie to bind their circle, as Faye continues to demonstrate the need for such an act by using her new power recklessly. Faye's grandfather pays a visit to the town and is concerned to learn that magic is once again being practiced.

An old friend of Cassie's mother threatens the group when he returns to town, fearing they are going to repeat the horrible mistake their parents made. Cassie reluctantly agrees to attend the school dance after she catches the eye of a boy in school, and Melissa tries to move her relationship with Nick forward.

Cassie and Adam attempt to track down Heather Barnes, a schoolmate of their parents, and discover she was left in a catatonic state after the fire 16 years ago. After Diana and Adam refuse to help, Cassie turns to Faye to try and undo the spell she thinks has left Heather this way.

Possessed by a malevolent force, Melissa persuades Nick to help her dig up something of value. Cassie debates how far she can trust her grandmother, while Dawn and Charles conspire in an attempt to regain their powers.

The town is upset by the arrival of Nick's older brother Jake, who made plenty of enemies in Chance Harbor but who is now a part of the Circle. Cassie is attacked by a stranger who wants her blood, and Diana makes a major decision.

Cassie throws a Halloween party, unaware that someone close to her has targeted the Circle for death. The witch hunters advance their plan for Chance Harbor, and Cassie's grandmother goes in search of a missing friend.

Cassie is visited by a woman she saw at the boat fire, who warns her that the witch hunters are coming for her. As Cassie struggles to learn how to activate her father's powerful medallion, Jake and Adam vie for her trust.

Faye hosts a slumber party to escape the usual Valentine's Day, but things get out of hand when Melissa shares a magical drug with Diana. Isaac gives Jake a way to spare the circle from the impending attack, and Cassie is haunted by the spirits of a murdered coven.

As Cassie attempts to return to her grandmother's house and find a normal life, John Blackwell pays her a visit. The witch hunters return, and Melissa attends a party with Callum against her friends' better judgment.

Cassie worries about whether she can trust her father when he goes searching for a powerful artifact. While the town prepares for a fundraiser casino night, Faye meets Lee's recovering girlfriend.

A witch hunter flees Eben's control to deliver a message to Blackwell: Eben is summoning demons to destroy the witches. Meanwhile, Faye and Melissa compete over a jock's attention, and Grant returns to pursue romance with Diana.

The circle's search for their family crystals lead to a dark warning from Jake's grandfather, who suggests there may be more Balcoin descendants among them. Cassie's grandmother returns home, and Callum attempts to reassert himself with Melissa.

The group searches for the final crystals, only to have a traitor steal one from under their nose. Diana confronts her father about her history, and Adam and Melissa discover an invisible secret left behind by his grandfather.

After Blackwell sends Cassie to the school in search of the last family crystal, she and Diana plan to travel back in time on prom night to see their mothers. A face from the past asks Melissa for help to survive, and Blackwell sends Charles a message.

Eben uses Faye to try and get his hands on a crystal, but Cassie and Diana join Blackwell to create the skull. Dawn and Charles seek help from one of the Elders to save their children, and the Circle finds that the skull's creation has unforeseen consequences on their powers.
