With Trish pushing her to confront her past, Jessica reluctantly discovers a new lead on how she got her powers. A local competitor, Pryce Cheng, tries to convince Jessica to join with his agency.

Jessica begins to investigate the people she believes responsible for her transformation years ago. Trish meets with her mother to ask for a favor tracking down someone from her past, unaware that she is being followed.

Jessica and Trish go in search of an I.G.H. trauma surgeon, despite the strain that their investigation is putting on Trish's relationship with Griffin. Meanwhile Malcolm takes matters into his own hands when Jessica is evicted by the building's new super, and Hogarth is confronted by her partners.

After negotiating her way out of jail Jessica sneaks into a high-security mental hospital in order to question a former I.G.H. janitor. Hogarth plays host to a potential witness, Inez Green -- and a surprise prompts Trish to reconsider what she wants.

Malcolm is sent to the school he washed out of to follow up a lead, and Jessica makes a discovery about Dr. Karl Malus. Jessica and Oscar get closer, and Trish goes out looking for a fight. Jeri grows frustrated with her house guest.

The powered woman Jessica has been pursuing tells the story of how Dr. Malus saved her life years ago, as Jessica relives the trauma of her own youth and alienation from her family during Trish's pop star years.

Jessica is left alone with her mother, uncertain of whether to turn her in or try to protect her. Malcolm goes looking for a way to get dirt on Hogarth's partners, while Jeri meets a prisoner she thinks might be able to save her life.

After a confrontation goes wrong Jessica begins to hallucinate Kilgrave, who taunts her lack of self-control. Meanwhile Jessica pursues Dr. Malus, who has agreed to help Trish with a potentially deadly experiment.

Trish lays in a coma following Malus's treatment, while Alisa goes on a rampage searching for her. As Jessica runs interference with the police, Hogarth tries to recover her missing dignity.

A reluctant Jessica finds herself on the road with Alisa, who has a renewed hope for a future with her daughter -- while the authorities close in on them. Malcolm delivers to Hogarth new leverage against her partners.
