Syfy Channel won’t send its time-travel pilot Rewind to series, the network officially confirmed today via Twitter.
It’s no surprise, seeing as the pilot shot in the spring of 2012 and the network has been conspicuously silent on the project since its completion. What is surprising is that Syfy has already burned off the pilot as a 2-hour movie. It aired Monday, August 26, with little fanfare and next to no advertising. (I, for one, was looking forward to seeing the show and had no idea it was going to be on.)
Rewind stars Shane McRae as an ex-Special Forces operative who joins a secret government division that uses experimental time travel technology to attempt to undo major world catastrophes — an idea not far off from Seven Days, which ran for three seasons on UPN (1998-2001).
The pilot burn-off is becoming common practice for Syfy, which has done the same with the pilot for Three Inches and Battlestar Galactica‘s spin-off Blood & Chrome.
In fact, Syfy doesn’t have all that great a track record with the pilot process itself. Most of the cable channel’s successful original scripted series started with a script and a full season order, including the forthcoming Helix, Defiance, and all three Stargate series.
Two other scripted series are currently at the pilot production stage for Syfy: Dominion, based on the angel warrior movie Legion; and High Moon, based on the 1969 John Christopher novel The Lotus Caves.

Just watched the pilot – it was great she to not know why this guy went into the polar ice cap and its effect – it’s a super show and totally cool – scify Chanel so wrong
I loved it. Too bad there isn’t another. Too many shows out today that are bland or try too hard. The acting was great and the concepts were right up CERN’s vortex. Pity, darn pity.
I see this as a could be short series, running out of steam quickly, with this pilot. I loved it, and watched the entire thing on youtube ( i was hooked), but the end is where they screw it up. it should go more the way of quantum leap. the door way kinda works one way getting in, but because they were apart of the time stream opening and changing, they constantly move to the new area of the window that opens up. and the people running the place is trying to bring them home, so everytime the time window changes and they are tossed into the new location, something happens, they disturb things, (iggy(ref from quantum leap)), they check with the guy back at the base who tells them what they messed up and what is happeneing now and what most likely needs to happen to fix things before they leap again into another timeline.. when in actualality they usually fix something else usually small but sometimes big for the better.. this could be easily be a quantum leap reboot. exact same pilot, just stuck leaping in time when the window changes… I love it..
Totally gutted that this never kept going. This program had huge potential, and was great to see a Kiwi actress in there! What’s up with SYFY?? Come on guys sort your crap out and get it back up and running! Reminds me of a later version of Sliders…and that was a awesome show too.

gutted! to know this show has been canned. I really enjoyed the pilot and only found it by accident. Did they run out of ideas too early or something? Damn!
That’s what happens when you have a room of stuffed suits who have no idea on what good programming is!! What a great pilot.. I was reeled in and left wanting more!! Uh here’s a lesson to you ignorant corperate idiots.. when a show has those affects then keep it!! If proper advertising were done it would have been massive!
Such monumental potential…lost. But no worries. I’m sure someone like Amazon, Netflix or Network has already seen what a boon such a popular subject would be for a fully developed series. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if some kind of litigation or copyright was the whole reason Syfy gave up on it, being that everyone seemed to love it so much. Bummer drag for Syfy is all. :'(
SyFy opted to cancel and use Aftermath instead. Just what we needed , Another Zombie series.
Rewind already had me hooked, and sent me searching for a part 2 only to find out it was a cancelled pilot…bad move on SyFy’s part…it was really good and had potential
With two other time travel series on air right both of which I am viewing, I like the much more precise way this show would have done it. The most likely more real affects of Time travel are respected in this show’s concept. We have to take the very negative attitude the folks at the network have towards Science Fiction with them favoring ghost hunting or Zombie, Vampire shows over it and they seem to use any excuse to terminate any show they can so this one apparently had no real chance of populating their air time either. It might have been early with the audience still developing but it is still not to late to develop the shows concept. I loved the pilot !1
The people currently running the syfy channel are idiots this should of been a series but the people at NBC don’t have the first clue of whats good when it comes to syfy they should turn the division over to people like me that love good sci fi and keep their idiocy off of the channel. this channel should be all sci fi not wrestling and not csi.
whom ever was responsible for canning this series should be sacked as he/she really hasn’t a clue what the viewers want and have just lost syfy a whole heap of money. great show what a shame….
So disappointed to find out that this was a cancelled pilot. It had everything going for it. The cast was solid. The idea has always sparked the interest of syfy fans. Most people have fantasized about time travel. This story was well written. But what went wrong?! Why did New York disappear again. And what did that guy do? Why did he sneak back in time?
Come on guys… bring this story back to life. Please!!!

Not a great sci-fi film/pilot, but interesting enough to want to see more. I was disappointed thr series ceased.
I have watched this show before. i can see a lot of potential in the plot and for syfi nuts it will be a good series its still not to late to pickup the Actors to start it up you should realy look into this. There seams to be a lack of good syfi shows out there right now.
I was on YouTube just happen to come across this movie rewind and I remember it when I was waiting for the second part the shop phone but it was canceled I said this was a great movie what are they do I think this is a big mistake for canceling this movie or TV show I would like to see Re-opened again. I just wanna know what happen when that military guy wire to the window into the cold will it go on I like to know what he did and why did everything turn dark is the one the pilot stars was talking to his wife and then didn’t hear anything about anything so I think he changed history again. I like to see It’s showing again
