Mike Fleming at Deadline Hollywood has an intriguing answer: He's read a 24-page treatment for fifth and sixth movies that would wrap up the story by none other than William Wisher, the screenwriter who contributed to the first two (and best-loved) installments in the franchise, James Cameron's original Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

We won't bore you with the details, but the hedge fund prevailed in an auction of the rights by Halcyon Holding Corp., which had been pushed into bankruptcy by the very fund that ended up winning the rights, according to Deadline Hollywood:

We finally get why Christian Bale was so angry at that guy on the set of Terminator. He knew that someday someone would get a copy of this commercial he did back in 1983 and upload it to YouTube, which is exactly what happened. (Or could it have been all that sugary cereal making him hyperactive?)

Although the video claims that this was Bale's big break into the TV/film industry, Wikipedia says it's actually the second commercial he did. If we find the first one anywhere online, we'll let you know.

Remember that McG told SCI FI Wire that he shot an R-rated version of Terminator Salvation, which was eventually released as a PG-13 movie?

Well, looks like the harder, more violent and boob-laden version will see the light of day, according to a report on UGO.com:

Sam Worthington told reporters that he takes to heart criticism of his last film, McG's Terminator Salvation, and that it'll help him make better movies in the future.

"Terminator? It was dark," Worthington told a group of reporters in London last Friday, agreeing with some of the critical responses to the movie. "There is no humor. That's what we set out to do. It's kind of humbling, the way that they describe your performance against [star] Christian's [Bale], but we have no control over that. We just have to do the best character that we can do at that time."

Terry Crews—the father from TV's Everybody Hates Chris and the president in Idiocracy—was proudest of his role in McG's Terminator Salvation.

What, you don't remember him?

That's because his role, short as it was, was almost cut out of the film, except for the kicker: There's a shot of Crews as a corpse.

In what reads like the prologue to a really awesome sci-fi horror movie, Fox News reports that "a Maryland company under contract to the Pentagon is working on a steam-powered robot that would fuel itself by gobbling up whatever organic material it can find—grass, wood, old furniture, even dead bodies."

Is the Terminator film franchise terminated? Star Christian Bale had something to say about it today.

While doing press a while back for Terminator Salvation, director McG and his screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato kept teasing that they had ideas for two more sequels to make a new trilogy. Of course, they would never presume to discuss specific plotlines before the audience gave them the thumbs-up that they wanted more.

Writer/Producer Ashley Edward Miller, who recently worked on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, has since moved over to Fringe, and is one of the screenwriters hard at work on the upcoming film adaptation of Marvel's Thor, doesn't like development executives very much. His brutally honest Twitter feed makes that clear.

James Middleton, executive producer of Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, told SCI FI Wire that he remains passionate about continuing the story of the canceled series in another format, but does not want to get anybody's hopes up. Middleton had producing credits on both the series and the film Terminator Salvation.

"I feel like I don't want to raise anybody's expectations about what's going to happen with those characters," Middleton said in an exclusive phone interview Wednesday while promoting Terminator: The Machinima Series. "I can tell you that I love those characters. I use a business term, and it sort of belies my emotional investment in these characters, but they are a great franchise asset. My passion for them is not diminished at all, and I'll just leave it at that."

Cos Lazouras, president of Halcyon Games, the producers of the Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series, told SCI FI Wire that the finale of the six-part series will feature the best action yet. The Machinima Series uses the engine of the Terminator Salvation video game to animate a new story about Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood), two years before the events of the film.

"The stakes are raised with each episode, and I think as you can see, the cliffhangers are getting more and more dramatic," Lazouras said in an exclusive phone interview on Wednesday. "Without giving anything away, you're going to see some much more dramatic action sequences, and in one part, something that happened in her recent past that also affects the current story and a surprising take on who the Laz character is and how important he is."

Of all the shows that got canceled last season, one of the hardest to lose was Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The series was canceled after two seasons of action, complicated mythology, rich characters and plenty of surprises, not the least of which was the series finale in which John (Thomas Dekker) goes into the future, leaving Sarah (Lena Headey) behind in the past. The cancellation was all the more difficult to take considering the lower-rated Dollhouse was picked up by Fox, while TSCC wasn't.

If you read creator and executive producer Josh Friedman's blog, you begin to realize that the viewers aren't the only one's having a hard time.

The future is not what it used to be.

McG's theatrical sequel film Terminator Salvation is fading fast at the box office, and TV's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is officially dead, marking the end of the most recent effort to jump-start the inert endoskeleton of the once-popular time-jumping sci-fi franchise.
