Is a <i>Jericho</i> wrap-up TV movie in the works?

Fans of CBS' short-lived post-apocalyptic series Jericho raised enough hell to get an extra seven episodes that just barely counted as a second season, but all the peanuts in the world couldn't raise the ratings enough to warrant another 13, let alone a third season.

But fans may still get one last visit to the Kansas town, as producers insist they are developing a final two-hour movie.

<i>Jericho</i>'s Ashley Scott goes <i>12 Rounds</i> with us

Ashley Scott, co-star of the current action movie 12 Rounds, told SCI FI Wire that it doesn't matter what kind of movies she makes as long as she can contribute something interesting to them. Scott also talked about the future of Jericho, the canceled post-apocalyptic CBS show in which she played Emily Sullivan opposite Skeet Ulrich's Jake Green.

"As long as I know that I went in there and did the best job I could and respected and honored the character I was gifted with, I can walk away feeling fulfilled and very happy about the experience," Scott said in an exclusive interview last week in Los Angeles. "I'm so new, still, and I'm learning something new every time I go on an audition or go do a job, whether it's [for] Spielberg or Renny [Harlin] or whoever."

In 12 Rounds, Scott plays Molly Porter, the wife of a detective (John Cena) who gets kidnapped by an ex-convict (Aidan Gillen), who blames him for the death of a loved one.

Dan Shotz, co-executive producer of CBS' canceled post-apocalyptic drama Jericho, told SCI FI Wire that he and his fellow writer/producers are indeed serious about developing a feature film based on the cult show.

"It's not just wishful thinking," Shotz said in an exclusive interview Tuesday at CBS Studios in Studio City, Calif., where he screened the pilot of his new series, Harper's Island. He added: "We've ... been developing a feature to hopefully make, because we would love to. I mean, ... Jericho is so built in a way, ... especially where we left off season two, to create a feature. So our hope is to launch this comic-book series and then with the development at the same time of the feature, hopefully get that launched as well."

Is a Jericho movie in the works?

Jon Turteltaub, one of the executive producers of CBS' defunct Jericho, told iF Magazine that he and his partners are developing a feature-film version of the post-apocalyptic series.

"We're developing a feature for Jericho," Turteltaub told the magazine. "It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what's going on beyond the town in Jericho."

Jericho starred Skeet Ulrich and Ashley Scott and told the story of the survivors in a small Kansas town of a nuclear attack on the United States. Canceled by CBS after a lackluster first season, the show came back for a short second season after the network acceded to a massive fan campaign—involving the mailing of tons of peanuts. When the ratings failed to improve, the show ended with a series finale that wrapped up the storyline.

Turteltaub, who also directed many of the series' episodes, added that he hopes to get the cast back. "Oh yeah!" he said. And would it be a huge budget? "Anything would be a huge budget compared to what we were dealing with," he said. "If we had $40 million dollars to make a movie with, that's 20 times more than we did before."

‘Jericho’ Movie In Development

Almost a year after its second cancellation, “Jericho” aims to say nuts to the television industry by making the colossal jump to the world of movies. Speaking with IF Magazine, executive producer Jon Turtletaub confirmed that a movie for the post-apocalyptic drama is currently in the works that will go beyond the small Kansas town, endeavoring to explore the rest of American society following their bombardment. It’s not clear if any of the “Jericho” cast will be back for the project should it go ahead, although it would undoubtedly include a few nods to the previous events of the series. “We’re developing a feature for ‘Jericho,’” Turteltaub told the magazine. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be …

They were both unceremoniously canceled by CBS, but while the audiences for “Jericho” and “Moonlight” weren’t vast, they were stable. ‘Jericho’ … The Movie?

If fans aren't successful in getting the twice-canceled "Jericho" back to television, it seems there might be a movie option in the works. Brad Beyer and Ashley Scott, who were stars of the show that lasted about a season-and-a-half thanks to a highly successful fan nut campaign, told SciFi Wire at the Saturn Awards ceremony they had been hearing rumors of putting the post-apocalyptic drama on the big screen. "We got here and caught win of a possible movie idea, which we thought was really good," said Scott, who played Emily Sullivan in the series.
