First U.K. bookies lowered the odds of Smith sticking with the show, and now the British tabloid The Sun says Smith wants to leave the show after he completes filming his second series as the Doctor.

We always wondered why Christopher Eccleston, who took on the role of Doctor Who when the Time Lord was reinvented in 2005, quit after one season.

And the actor's reasons became even more mysterious when the BBC stated, as part of its announcement that Eccleston would be leaving, that the actor was afraid of being typecast and had found the series grueling—causing Eccleston to respond at the time that this was not the case. (The BBC later admitted that its announcement had been incorrect and that it had released it without speaking to Eccleston.)

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant and Kick-Ass actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse have both been added to the cast of the remake of Fright Night, according to Heat Vision.

Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a Las Vegas magician whose show utilizes horror imagery and effects. In the original, the character as played by Roddy McDowall (Planet of the Apes) was a late-night TV horror host. In both versions, Vincent claims to be an expert on vampires but turns out to be a disappointment when asked for help by young fan Charlie (Star Trek's Anton Yelchin in the remake) to battle real vampires.

"She is no stranger to dressing up and would be more than a match for the Doctor," Roberts said. "It would be a great coup to get her."
