Two centuries before the fall of the planet Krypton a young man from the shamed house of El receives an astonishing warning from a stranger: find the Fortress of Solitude and make sure that his own grandson -- the universe's greatest hero -- is born.

As Seg seeks a way to honor his fallen parents Adam Strange looks for evidence of Brainiac's approach toward the planet. In an effort to find her voice, Lyta challenges her squad commander to a duel.

A discovery in the outlands reveals that a Sentry released by Brainiac is at large on Krypton and may have taken a host body. Meanwhile the military launches a crackdown on the Rankless zone, hoping to squeeze the terrorist group Black Zero.

The Voice of Rao works to assuage dissent among the Rankless, scapegoating Lyta for her squadron's role in the recent violence. Seg turns to Nyssa for help, and is approached by Black Zero.

With her daughter sentenced to death, Jayna is torn between her duty and her family when Nyssa offers to intervene. Seg and a fellow survivor fight to escape from Black Zero.

Seg and Lyta are shocked to discover the identity of the Black Zero leader, who is searching for a weapon beneath the surface of Kandor. As Seg's trust in Adam is shaken Jayna steps into a conspiracy, and young Ona answers questions from the Voice of Rau.

With Kandor on lockdown, Lyta searches for her mother in the wake of a failed coup -- while Daron-Vex makes a deal with the devil. While Seg tries to help Nyssa, Adam looks for a way to return home.

As a resistance movement begins to form Seg and the others discover that the reborn Voice of Rau is exploiting the Genesis Chamber for power, further threatening the future of the Kryptonian people.

Lyta and Zod move to unleash a terrible weapon they believe could save the planet from Brainiac, putting Kandor at risk. While Jax-Ur interrogates Daron-Vex, Seg must make plead with the residents of the catacombs.

When Brainiac arrives over Kandor in force, Zod travels to the Phantom Zone in an attempt to rescue the one person who might know how to stop him. While Seg and Lyta evacuate the city, Nyssa attempts to rescue her unborn child.
