Still plagued by her past experiences, New York private detective Jessica Jones is hired to locate an NYU student who has disappeared -- only to find that the case is pointing her back to the man who unraveled her life one year ago.

Vowing to prove Hope's innocence, Jessica poses as a nurse to track a lead on Kilgrave, uncovering just how he survived the accident she believed had killed him a year ago. Trish reaches out to her friend, and Jessica realizes she has put Luke in harm's way.

Uncertain about how much to tell Luke, Jessica tries to acquire a drug she believes will neutralize Kilgrave's power. Trish agrees to put Hope on her radio show to try and turn public opinion.

Jessica grows suspicious that her new client may have been sent by Kilgrave. Meanwhile the officer who attempted to kill Trish tries to make amends, and Hogarth begins to interview people who claim that they were used by Kilgrave.

Trish's new friend Simpson gets involved in Jessica's plan to capture Kilgrave, despite her objections. Meanwhile Jessica recalls her history with Malcolm.

Luke hires Jessica to track down a young man in debt to a loan shark, who he believes can help him get new information about his wife's death. Jessica visits Hope in prison and learns the true nature of the attack on her.

The death of someone close to Jessica pushes her to an extreme plan to expose Kilgrave by getting herself incarcerated for murder. Meanwhile a confrontation with Hogarth's ex goes too far.

Jessica moves in with Kilgrave in an attempt to acquire evidence in Hope's case, but has to reconsider everything after his abilities prove useful. Hogarth finds herself over a barrel when Wendy reveals she is holding blackmail evidence.

Jessica tries to extract a confession from a captive Kilgrave, making Hogarth complicit in the process. While Simpson fights for his life Hope is offered a plea deal, and Jessica discovers a lead that could expose Kilgrave's mysterious past.

Kilgrave pays Jessica a visit after escaping captivity, offering to set Hope free -- if he gets what he wants in exchange. A visit to Wendy's house has frightful consequences for Jeri and Pam, and Simpson takes matters into his own hands.

While Jessica searches the city's morgues for a lead, Simpson attempt to track her down for his own agenda -- putting Trish in between two powerful forces.

Luke and Jessica reunite after Kilgrave's attempt to use him against her, while Kilgrave uses his father to try and boost his powers. Trish's mother tries to get back into her life, bringing information about Jessica's past.

After a misguided attempt to take Luke to the hospital Jessica gets help from a nurse who has experience with powered people, while Kilgrave tries to increase his powers ahead of a fateful confrontation with Jessica.
