Seven months after the arrival of the 2nd Mass in Charleston, the town enjoys the benefits of support and technology from the Volm. But when evidence points to a mole in their ranks, Tom appoints his former mentor to investigate. Hal dreams of encounters with Karen, and Anne prepares to give birth.

Tom seeks help from the city's reclusive power specialist for a risky mission to infiltrate and disable a nuclear power plant being used by the enemy. Hal suspects that his encounters with Karen may be more than mere dreams, and Anne realizes that her newborn daughter may not be normal.

After a sniper attack on the outskirts of town leaves one of the Berserkers near death, Tom and Dan are shocked to learn that the attackers are human. Hal makes a decision about his future, and Anne's worries about her baby escalate.

After proving themselves to their visitor, Tom and the people of Charleston arrange a face-to-face visit with the President -- putting their Volm ally at risk. Meanwhile, Ben and Deni debate whether to remove the last alien tech from their bodies, and Hal struggles with his inner demon.

Tom and Pope find themselves on the run in the woods, hiding from the enemy while on the verge of turning on each other. Back in Charleston Weaver leads a search for Anne and her daughter, and Tom's assistant Marina seeks help from Dr. Kadar on a special project.

Hal's dual personae are exposed when he takes his father hostage, leading to a stand-off with Colonel Weaver and a confrontation with his own family.

The Masons' search for their missing family is waylaid when they are ambushed by a family living off the grid. In Charleston, Pope threatens to bring a halt to the Volm project, and Cochise returns with new revelations.

Tom wakes up in a normal world where his wife is alive and the invasion was only a dream, but begins to suspect that all is not as it seems. New developments prompt a new search for the mole inside Charleston, and the enemy prepares to bring their new defense grid online.

Tom returns to Charleston with a plan to cripple the Espheni defense network, but a massive explosion leaves the city in ruins, its people trapped, and a mole still sowing disarray.

The 2nd Mass unleashes a major attack on the Espheni defense tower, but a victory raises new questions with regard to the Volm and their intentions for the human race. Meanwhile, Lourdes struggles under the torment of an enemy within.
