On the heels of Monday’s season finale, Syfy Channel’s Being Human has picked up the go-ahead for its fourth year.
The series will return in 2014 with another 13 episodes. Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, Sam Huntington, and Kristen Hager star.
“Being Human really hit its stride creatively this year,” said Mark Stern, President of Original Content at Syfy. “This show has become a signature series for Syfy and we are thrilled to have it return in 2014.”
According to Syfy, Being Human averaged 1.8 million total viewers in Season Three (airing between January and April), including 1.1 million Adults 18-49 and 1.1 million Adults 25-54. That includes DVR-delayed viewing — the season premiered to 1.22 million live viewers, and peaked at 1.42 million its third week.
The show originally stuck close to repeating the same storylines as its predecessor, the BBC Three series Being Human — which recently concluded its fifth and final season, having turned over its entire original cast in its final two years. But the Syfy series and its characters have been finding their own stories more and more.
In related news, BBC’s Being Human co-star Michael Socha (werewolf Tom) has been cast in the pilot for a potential spin-off of ABC’s Once Upon a Time. He’ll play the Knave of Hearts in a series set in Alice’s Wonderland, should it get the go-ahead from the network.
