As we reported a while back, Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Patrick Stewart will be knighted as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year honors list. That makes him Sir Patrick.

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, meanwhile, also becomes a knight under a separate honors list in New Zealand, the Associated Press reported:

The news leaked out a couple of weeks ago, but today it became official as Patrick Stewart, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Captain Picard, was awarded a knighthood for his work in drama. Stewart, along with others, was named on the New Year’s Honours List.

Star Wars. Alien. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Those are just three of the sci-fi films that the Library of Congress has added to its National Film Registry since 1989, meaning that they are “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant and must be be preserved for all time.
