Fugitives Volume Designed To Refresh ‘Heroes’
With “Heroes” floundering since it successful premier season, co-executive producer Adam Armus is hoping the Fugitives volume brings a revitalizing kick. Armus seeks to refocus the remainder of Season 3 on what he sees as the series’ strength: the characters. “Honestly, it’s really about bringing the humanity back to the show,” Armus explained during an interview with the official Heroes Magazine. “The dependency on shows like this is to get wound up in the machinations and the mystique of what’s going on. But what we are finding is that our most successful episodes, and the stories that we all like the best, are the ones that focus on our characters and gives them human problems. “The idea of ‘Fugitives’ is a sort of reset and getting back to who the heroes are again. It’s no …
After the colossal flop of “Star Trek: Nemesis,” one can be forgiven for believing that the legendary franchise was out for the count as far as the box office goes. But then hotshot director J.J. Abrams comes along with a script devised by the meticulous former-”Alias” duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and suddenly Star Trek is back. The double act, who met in their senior year at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, have made quite the name for themselves in the industry by taking on projects with pre-existing hardcore fanbase that demands nothing but the best and they deliver exactly that. In 2007, the Michael Bay-directed movie “Transformers” annihilated box office competition and remains among the top five DVD releases of the last two years and its sequel is set to launch later …
Quick Note On April Fools
Airlock Alpha will not knowingly publish any story that is a prank, not true, or meant to be misleading — even in the spirit of fun — in this place on April 1. It’s not that we don’t have a sense of humor. It’s just that we know you as a reader come to this place to get news that you can trust and not have to wonder if it’s accurate. We do not feel that it’s appropriate to use the same space that we present actual news to then post stories that are deceptive, untrue, or incorrect. We all love a great April Fool’s prank, but there is a time and place for it, and neither of them are on the news pages of Airlock Alpha. Because of the time it takes to determine what news is real and what news is not on April 1, updates to the site will be limited as we work to corroborate any new information …

Paramount Wants A ‘Star Trek XII’
It looks like the Star Trek franchise has been revived, even if there is not a single indication yet on how the upcoming “Star Trek XI” will be received by fans. Paramount Pictures has ordered a script for yet another Star Trek movie from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the writing team behind the May 8 film, along with “Lost” producer Damon Lindelof, Variety reports. Also coming along for the ride in a potential sequel is J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, although right now both are only carrying executive producer credits and it’s not clear whether Abrams will get behind the camera and direct again. The move could put Star Trek back to a two-year turnaround time as Paramount is looking to have a 12th film out by Summer 2011. “There’s obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write …
Andy Hallett Of ‘Angel’ Dies At 33
Yet another popular actor from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff series “Angel” has died. Andy Hallett, who played “Lorne,” died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with his father, Dave, at his side. Hallett is a virtual unknown in the acting industry outside of his “Angel” work. In fact, he didn’t even have an agent when “Angel” co-creator Joss Whedon, who was good friends with Hallett, asked him to audition for Lorne for the show’s second season on The WB. It required the actor to wear green face makeup, red eyes and horns. Hallett won the role, and would last 76 episodes, according to Internet Movie Database. He also had an uncredited role as a student in the popular “Buffy” episode “Hush,” and voiced Cricket in the animated film “Gepetto’s Secret.” Hallett was …

TNG Cast Boosts ‘Family Guy’ Ratings
Fox got great returns in reuniting the cast of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” in Sunday’s episode of the animated comedy “Family Guy.” Ratings for the episode, which also included Meg’s exploration of God and Kirk Cameron, drew 8.2 million viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, a key advertising demographic, according to TV Week. That’s up more than 14 percent from the week before, and was the highest rated episode of “Family Guy” since November. It was by far the highest-rated program in Fox’s Sunday animation block, beating out “The Simpsons” at 8 p.m. ET with 6.6 million viewers and “American Dad,” which followed at 9:30 p.m ET with just 6 million viewers in the demographic. The episode is said to be the first full cast reunion in more than 15 years when the series finale …
