‘Smallville,’ ‘Supernatural’ Coming Back Next Year
No need to wonder whether “Smallville” will be back for a ninth season. Or if “Supernatural” will have yet another outing. The CW has renewed six shows Tuesday, including both “Smallville” and “Supernatural,” showing the world that despite its sagging ratings, it’s here to stay … at least for now. By all accounts, the current season of “Smallville” was supposed to be its final one. The creators had left before the start of the season, as did the show’s big bad guy, Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor. But the new creative team provided a spark to the show that no one saw coming, and ratings — while slightly off from last year — are much stronger than expected.
