Sony has picked up Mark Millar and Tony Harris' superhero military comic book War Heroes for Michael De Luca to produce, Variety reported.

Henry V helmer Kenneth Branagh surprised onlookers by entering talks to direct Thor, a superhero movie and the next Marvel Comics property to be adapted as a live-action feature by Marvel Studios, Variety reported. The movie will be released in 2010.

Saoirse Ronan, the 14-year-old Irish star of the upcoming fantasy film City of Ember, told SCI FI Wire that director Gil Kenan strived to remain as faithful as possible to the Jeanne DuPrau youth novel on which it's based.

Watchmen director Zack Snyder has become the latest filmmaker to break into the video-game business, signing a deal to develop three original games for Electronic Arts, the nation's largest third-party publisher, Variety reported.

The two direct-to-DVD movies MGM made over the past couple years based on the “Stargate SG-1″ universe is coming to the SciFi Channel beginning this spring. “Stargate: Ark of Truth” as well as “Stargate Continuum” will air on SciFi Channel as Sunday night movie events, and could complement the release of the new series “Stargate: Universe,” which may come out in July. At the same time, “Stargate: Atlantis” will continue to live on SciFi Channel as a television movie, which also will air on SciFi Channel, and could be shown during the “Universe” mid-season break, according to Multichannel News.
