‘Doctor Who’ Finale To Be 65 Minutes Long

This story contains MODERATE SPOILERS for episodes of “Doctor Who” that have not aired in the United States yet. The final regular episode of “Doctor Who” until 2010 is so big, BBC has had to allot a bunch of extra time to fit it all in. The fourth season finale is clocking in at 65 minutes, nearly double the length of a normal episode, which will include appearances by actors from two of the “Doctor Who” spinoffs, as well as Billie Piper as Rose Tyler and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. “Stolen Earth,” which served as the penultimate episode, had the Daleks and their creator, Davros, stealing the planet and then subjugating it. The Doctor, played by David Tennant, was shot and injured by a Dalek, and was in the process of regenerating when the cliffhanger hit. Although there’s been …

Don S. Davis From ‘Stargate SG-1′ Dies

Don S. Davis, best known to genre fans as Maj. Gen. George Hammond in the Stargate television and film franchise, died on June 29. He was 65. Davis was a co-star during the first seven years of “Stargate SG-1.” As a result of a medical condition, he cut back to making guest appearances on “SG-1″ until the show wrapped at the end of its 10th season. He also brought Gen. Hammond to several episodes of “Stargate: Atlantis.” His final franchise appearance will be in the upcoming direct-to-DVD film, “Stargate: Continuum,” scheduled for release on July 29. He appeared in numerous films, including “Far Cry,” “Woodshop” and “Vipers,” all of which are in post-production. He guest-starred on several television shows, such as “Supernatural,” “The Dead Zone” and “Flash Gordon.” Davis …

Both ‘Hobbit’ Films May Not Be Shot At Once

Even though pre-production for the motion picture based on “The Hobbit” hasn’t even begun, rumors have been flying that there will be not be one, but two films based on the classic work of J.R.R. Tolkien, according to SciFi Wire. However, Guillermo del Toro, who will direct the franchise film (or films), considers this speculation to be premature. “We believe there is a second movie,” he said during a recent appearance while promoting “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.” “If there isn’t, there will not be. If we find it, we will shoot it, but by God, if we do not find it, we will not shoot it.” If there are two films, the chances of them being shot back-to-back like Peter Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings earlier in the decade is unlikely. “I am anxious to shoot the book, and I’m …

Review: ‘Doctor Who’ – The Stolen Earth

The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for “The Stolen Earth,” the twelfth episode from the fourth season of BBC’s “Doctor Who.” This isn’t an episode of “Doctor Who,” this is the end of all things and the continuation of the legendary Time War. As Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) very quickly confirms, “The Stolen Earth” is “a little bit bigger than south Wales.” There is chaos on a global scale as the new Dalek Empire very quickly emerges from a pocket in time and begins its invasion of Earth and all of The Doctor’s (David Tennant) hidden army are called forth to do their bit to protect the Human race. At times, the episode is almost a Doctor-lite episode, but thanks to the all the companions of the modern day series, it works wonderfully as “Doctor Who,” “Torchwood” and “The Sarah …

Bale Reluctant To Play John Connor

The chance to save the world from the legendary Terminators may seem like a role of a lifetime to some people, not Christian Bale though who revealed that he was hesitant about becoming John Connor. “My feeling is that, you know, we have an opportunity and a responsibility,” Bale said, referring to franchises such as Terminator. One thing though that Bale is determined to do is reinvent the franchise and not only bring in a new audience, but impress those who were fans of the original movies as well. In this futuristic adventure, fans of the originals can expect to see a larger variety of robots than in previous instalments, however due to the time period of the movie not all of them will be advanced as the Terminator models we have already seen. In fact some may not even be as advanced as …
