‘Lost’ Wins Night For ABC Despite Finale Ratings Decline

An evening of “Lost” helped ABC win the ratings battle for Thursday, May 29, even though the show’s ratings were down from last year, according to Zap2it.com. The Alphabet Network brought in a 6.4 rating/11 share for the night, ahead of second-place Fox who attracted a 5.9/10 viewership. CBS came in third, followed by NBC and The CW. ABC also won the coveted adult 18-49 demographic with a 4.0 rating. A rerun of “There’s No Place Like Home: Part 2,” which aired two weeks ago, landed in second place at 8 p.m. with a 4.5/8 rating, following Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance,” which garnered a 5.8/10. “Part 2″ won the 9 p.m. hour with a 7.1/12, beating “Dance,” which increased to a 6.0/10. At 10 p.m., “Lost” again took the hour, this time with a 7.6/13. The bad news is that these …

SyFriday: Is This The End Of New Sci-Fi?

The fall 2007-08 television season started with quite a line-up: in addition to the existing TV series such as “Stargate: Atlantis,” “Heroes” and “Battlestar Galactica,” viewers received an impressive assortment of new shows to whet their science-fiction appetites. Unfortunately however, the vast majority of these because causalities of this schedule, and their ranks now include the wonderfully crafted (and shortened) second season of “Jericho,” time traveling “Journeyman,” “Bionic Woman’s” revved up reincarnation, immortality incarnate “New Amsterdam” and more recently “Moonlight.” So I ask you this: is this the end of long-running sci-fi? Each of these cancelled shows launched with an inspiring write-up, particularly “Bionic Woman” which, after only a handful of episodes, failed to deliver …

‘Sarah Connor’ Makes Garbage Lead A CEO

Shirley Manson, lead singer of the musical group Garbage, has been tapped to play a corporate CEO in the next season of Fox’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. She’ll portray Catherine Weaver, head of a high-tech company who’s very likely to be another foe to the show’s heroes as they attempt to fight the future of machine domination of humanity. The role will be the singer’s first big acting gig. Songs she’s voiced include “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” “Sarah Connor” will have a 13-episode commitment when it returns to Monday nights in the new season on Fox as one of the few new genre shows to make the cut and receive a sophomore season. “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” stars Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, …

Review: ‘Lost’ – There’s No Place Like Home: Part 3

The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for “There’s No Place Like Home: Part 3,” the season finale from the fourth season of ABC’s “Lost.” The season one finale of “Lost” pretty much set a new standard for disappointment despite hype. Having Jack, Locke, and Kate peering down the hatch was both anti-climactic and, frankly, quite boring. Season 2 overall was a forgettable disaster. Then came the Season 3 finale, in which the flash-forward was introduced, and the presence of an enigmatic coffin with the body of someone we certainly had to know, but could only speculate on the possibilities. The third season finale was the first sign that “Lost” had recovered the creative vision that made it the runaway hit it became in its inaugural season. Season 4 has been extremely well written, well …
