We’ve managed to get our hands on the brand new cast photos for the upcoming second season of NBC’s Heroes! After the fates so many of the show’s ensemble cast were left hanging at the end of Season One, just who shows up in the cast photos — and who does not — is somewhat telling.

Of course, leave it up to executive producer Tim Kring and the writing team to explain just who has survived, and in what form.

Hayden Panettiere returns in the new season as Claire Bennet. Does her new cheerleader uniform indicate that she has again picked up her pompoms at a new school? According to actor Jack Coleman (“Noah Bennet”), the family has been reunited when the new season picks up, four months after the May finale.

“The Bennet family has relocated,” he told SciFi Wire. “I can’t tell you exactly where.”

Masi Oka returns as Hiro Nakamura, who has been thrown more than 400 years into the past. When he gets his bearings, Hiro discovers that he is in feudal Japan — where he meets his childhood hero, Kensei (played by David Anders, “Julian Sark” on Alias).

Don’t count Matt Parkman out yet! Greg Grunberg returns as the down-and-out police officer who can read minds.

Noah Gray-Cabey returns as Micah Sanders, the brilliant young son of Niki Sanders and D.L. Hawkins.

Ali Larter plays Niki Sanders, a woman fighting to overcome a murderous alternate personality. Has she finally managed to overcome “Jessica” once and for all?

LANDSLIDE! In spite of his apparent explosion in the season finale, Adrian Pasdar returns as Congressman Nathan Petrelli … or does he?

Milo Ventimiglia returns as Peter Petrelli, who must continue to learn how to control his many new abilities.

Jack Coleman returns as Noah Bennet, whose first name was finally revealed in the final episode of Season One.

Sendhil Ramamurthy returns as Mohinder Suresh, who has survived his tangle with the psychotic, super-powered murderer Sylar.

Speaking of murderous psychopaths … Zachary Quinto’s Sylar not only survived his throw-down with our heroes in the climactic battle sequence, he’s now a regular cast member. Quinto will play a young Spock in the upcoming Star Trek XI film from producer J.J. Abrams, it was announced at Comic-Con.
